Ladies League Information Sheet

Participation Requirements:
  1. If you are on a team roster, you must be a member of Marias Valley Golf Course, or have a punch card.  Membership or punch card must be purchased by the first night of league to participate.
  2. Subs will not be required to have membership or punch card.  They may sub an unlimited number of times and pay green fees each time to participate in ladies league.
  3. You will not be required to purchase a handicap card to participate in league.  We will use a 25-point maximum handicap system.  New players will determine their handicap by their first night’s score.  You can locate your handicap in the white ladies league book under the handicap tab.  If you have any questions about scoring, using a ghost, or making your line-up sheet, see Cindy Doane, Pam Faulhaber, Sara Staub, or Sheila Maloney.
  4. Each team player is required to pay $25.00 Ladies Association dues the first night they play league.  See Sara Staub to pay your dues.  Once a sub has played 4 times they must join the Ladies Association.  If you fail to pay your dues as required you will forfeit your point until they are paid.
  5. Each team is required to pay $50.00 sponsor fee made payable to the Ladies Association and due the first night of league.  See Sara Staub to pay your sponsor fee.
  6. Each team will consist of 4 ladies per night. (Up to 8 players may be listed on the team roster).

League Format:
  1. Shotgun start at 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday.  That time will change to 5:30 p.m. in mid-August to make use of the most daylight.
  2. Format is match play.  Ten (10) points are awarded in each match.  One (1) point for each hole and one point for total low net.
  3. Players will arrange their match at the starting hole by pairing off according to handicap.
  4. The order of play will be posted on the scorecard (ex. 1 & 4, 2 &3) and the players are required to abide by this order.  Points may be forfeited if not followed.
  5. If there are an uneven number of teams and there is a BYE team, the BYE team members can either sub for other teams, or golf together on the other nine of the course Ladies League is not playing on.
  6. Golf etiquette should be observed at all times.  Any flagrant failure to observe golf etiquette can result in loss of points.

General Rules of Play:

  1. In the event that a team does not have 4 players at the time play is to begin, the players present will be ranked accordingly:  the lowest handicap will be ranked #1; the second lowest player will be ranked #2 etc.  If a player arrives late, she will fill the highest seed position available.  If the player is late for a match, she automatically loses the holes she has missed and the point for low net.  If the player does not show up, she becomes the ghost and that position is always #4 or #4 then #3 if two players are missing.  Whoever plays against the ghost receives 6 points and 2 extra points if they have a sub-par net round
  2. Please play ready golf.  To speed up play, be ready to hit your ball when it is your turn.  No need to play honors.
  3. There is a 5-minute limit in looking for as lost ball.  If you can’t find it, drop line of play, count a 1 stroke penalty and hit.
  4. 10-stroke Rule.  To speed up play, if you have not reached the green in 10 strokes, pick up your ball.  When every has reached the green, place your ball 2 club lengths North of the cup and putt.
